Completely Avoidable

Posted by livinghomes on October 14, 2011 at 8:15 AM Comments comments (0)

Mr Ironmonger at 75 years old died from being scalded in a bath. Another gentleman Kevin Clarke was scalded and sent to hospital but is now home again. What pain and misery both men could have been spared. A member of Birmingham City Council commented that these cases where completely avoidable, all Midland Heart would have needed to do was to install a thermostatic control system in the independant living accommodation. They have now done this but if they had done the appropriate risk assessments earlier Mr Ironmonger may still be alive and Mr Clarke could have been spared the intense pain of scalding, and Midlands Heart could have saved more than £100,000 plus other possible costs like increased insurances, court costs, loss of reputation, and the time and money this whole thing has cost them.

I would like to help others avoid these consequences.

If you would like help with your risk assessments, or any related health and safety issues please call me Yvonne on 0121 354 2996 or email me ar help2train@googlemail.com

Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector

This qualification will enable those who teach or train adults to prove a professional standard of delivery

Level 3 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) is now a requirement for those who deliver training to adults on funded programmes

We offer this qualification as an intensive five day course @ £650 per person inclusive, either here in Sutton Coldfield or at your place if you would like six or more people to take this programme at one time.

Each delegate will have individual attention and support.

This qualification can be arranged along side other higher level qualifications. For example Level 4 Award in Manageing Food Safety plus PTLLS along with relevant experience would allow a member of your own staff to deliver your own accredited training for a modest investment of £1,245 for this Train the Trainer programme and the fees to the awarding body itself.

Find a safe place to eat

Posted by livinghomes on January 25, 2010 at 10:03 AM Comments comments (0)

Everywhere you eat can now be checked out on the H for hygiene scheme. Put H for hygiene in your search and click on the h for hygiene scheme. It then asks you to agree to its terms. Then you can either put the exact address of where you intend to eat, or just an area. Results give you how many H scores that establishment has, from a hot dog stand to a large hotel most of them are there. If it has all 5 H scores great! That's a fairly good indicator that it is safe to eat there. If there are no H scores please be careful. Bon apetite. Yvonne
